Tavia Galonski

Tavia Galonski earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Emory University before working as a flight attendant for Delta Airlines, where she advocated for unionizing flight attendants. While continuing her work at Delta, she attended the University of Akron School of Law as a Dean’s Club Scholar, graduating in 1995 and subsequently joining Community Legal Aid as an attorney.
Galonski was later appointed as a magistrate in the Summit County Court of Common Pleas, where she served in both Domestic Relations and Juvenile Courts. As a State Representative, she used her legal expertise to address critical state challenges, serving four terms in the Ohio House of Representatives, where she was the ranking member of the House Civil Justice Committee and the Minority Assistant Whip.
Today, Tavia Galonski is honored to serve as Clerk of Courts for Summit County, making history as the first Black person to lead a countywide charter office. In this role, she is dedicated to promoting justice, transparency, and efficiency in the legal system.
