Tara Matthews Campbell

Tara Matthews Campbell was born in and resides in Paint Township. Formerly a United States Marine Corps military police officer, Tara is currently a farmer and co-owner of a small trucking company. As a licensed therapist, Tara has demonstrated her deep understanding of, and care for, the wellbeing of her community. She has over 20 years of experience in the public and social services sector, with focus on grants management, workforce management, child welfare services, trauma informed care, low income resources, behavioral healthcare, and criminal justice programming. She currently serves as the Deputy Director for Highland County Community Action, whose mission is to “strive to empower individuals and families through opportunities and support to achieve self-sufficiency.”
Tara will bring this same passion and mission to the County Commissioner’s office. When elected, Tara will focus on making sure that Highland County has the proper resources that families need to meet their personal and professional goals. She will work with the sheriff’s office to increase public safety in her community and lead healthy and sustainable economic development plan for the county. Tara is well-versed in identifying community resources, building partnerships to strengthen service delivery, and implementing new programs, a diverse skill set that will greatly benefit the community of Highland County.
