Susan Hoover
Norwood City Council, At-large
Southwest Ohio, Local
Susan Hoover, a longtime resident of Norwood, is running for Norwood City Council. She is a mental health therapist, a business owner, and a life-long volunteer. She has stepped up to help survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault, marched on Washingtons, served as a long-term mentor for an inner-city youth, and has participated in elections as canvasser, GOTV and poll observer. Throughout the pandemic, Susan shifted her activism toward the Black Lives Matters movement by holding a yard sign event selling more than 1,000 “Black Lives Matter” and “Love is Love” signs with proceeds going to the Cincinnati NAACP.
If elected, one of Susan’s primary goals is to increase the voice of marginalized community members. Susan has recently completed LEAD Ohio Leadership training. Her ability to organize, plan and collaborate will allow for Susan to continue launching new programs, coordinating volunteers, and conducting community outreach. Susan plans to have her boots on the ground, moving forward with passion, vision, and collaboration in 3 strategic areas. Infrastructure; supporting fiscally responsible planning for Norwood’s roads, water systems, and parks. Diversity; creating a diversity, equity, and inclusion plan that includes all Norwoodians. Engagement; increased communications related to community events, resources, and volunteer opportunities
