A spirited educator and fierce community advocate, Councilmember Susan Grodek is looking to serve her second term on Brooklyn City Council. She was elected to council in 2019 and is the Chair of the Safety & Environmental Committee and Planning Commission. In her first term, many improvements were made by the city council such as an updated zoning code, establishment of a master plan, and construction of a new city hall, all of which will help Brooklyn become a more prosperous and safer community. Accessibility to education and economic opportunities is of utmost importance to Councilmember Grodek. She is a second grade teacher for Brooklyn City Schools, wife to a small business owner, and a mother. Councilmember Grodek believes, “As a small city, we need to utilize our resources to the maximum”. She recognizes that Brooklyn has a wonderful location for both businesses and homeowners which should be leveraged as much as possible. Her enthusiasm for education, diversity, and economic progress makes her an asset to Brooklyn City Council.
