Commissioner Stephanie Summerow Dumas is running for reelection to continue to serve the Hamilton County community. Elected in 2018, and currently serving as Commission President, Commissioner Summerow Dumas ran because she saw a need to add diverse voices to the Commission. She pulled off a surprise win against the incumbent, becoming the first Black women commissioner to serve in Hamilton County, proving her ability to take on challenges and strategize for success.
During her tenure, she has prioritized decreasing the budget deficit, providing better access to transportation, and increasing economic empowerment. She has worked to honor Black history, improve access to broadband, increase safety at corrections facilities, and expand youth employment programs to year-round status. She more than 40-years’ experience as a licensed social worker in the field of mental health and spent more than 16 years serving in politics. Her vast wealth of experience will continue to be an asset to her community. Reelecting Commissioner Summerow Dumas ensures Matriots values are brought to Hamilton County.
I have 29 years of diverse political experience from Mayor, Village Manager to Commissioner. I provide a diversity of culture but also a diversity of opinion. I believe that being a Licensed Social Worker gives me a unique perspective when our constituents reach out to me. There’s more work to do and there are more people that need my assistance.
