Stephanie Howse-Jones is a compassionate caregiver, dedicated mentor, and committed public servant, proudly serving on Cleveland’s City Council.
A proud graduate of the Cleveland School of the Arts, Stephanie went on to earn a B.S. in Civil (Environmental) Engineering from Florida A&M University and a Master’s in Environmental Studies from Cleveland State University. During graduate school, she founded Footprints, a 12-year leadership and mentoring program for girls based at Thurgood Marshall Recreation Center.
A bold advocate for women, families, historically marginalized communities, and those disconnected from government systems, Stephanie is a trusted voice for equity and opportunity. Professionally, Stephanie’s career spans engineering, education, and elected office. These experiences have shaped her into a collaborative leader, independent thinker, and unwavering truth-teller.
Whether in the classroom, the community, or the Council chamber, Stephanie’s work is guided by the words of Angela Y. Davis: “I am no longer accepting the things I cannot change. I am changing the things I cannot accept.” Stephanie leads with compassion, courage, and an unshakable belief in building a Cleveland where everyone has the opportunity to thrive, a constant and powerful advocate for Matriots’ values and her community.
