Shenise Turner-Sloss

Shenise Turner-Sloss is a dedicated wife, mother of three, and proud Dayton native with a strong commitment to improving her community. A graduate of Dayton Public Schools, she earned a B.A. in Political Science from Fisk University and an M.S. in Administration from Central Michigan University.
With over a decade of experience in local and federal government logistics, community development, and program management, Commissioner Turner-Sloss has a proven track record of advocating for the people of Dayton. She has worked with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) administering federal funding programs, including the Community Development Block Grant and the HOME Investment Partnership Program. Currently, Shenise serves as a Logistics Management Specialist at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base and is the only sitting Dayton City Commissioner who is a current union member.
Since becoming the third Black woman to serve on the Dayton City Commission, Shenise has made it her priority to improve transparency and public participation in city government, address Dayton’s housing affordability crisis, and resolve substandard living conditions caused by housing code violations. She is a co-founder of Neighborhoods Over Politics, a neighborhood redevelopment organization, and an active community volunteer.
