Shayla L. Davis
State Representative, District 18
Northwest Ohio, State Legislature
State Representative Shayla L. Davis is a passionate community leader with more than 25 years of experience in the municipal and federal government. Currently serving House District 11, Representative Davis is now running for newly-drawn District 18. Born and raised in Garfield Heights, Representative Davis has degrees in both Non-Profit Administration and Public Management from Cleveland State and graduated from the Cleveland-Marshall School of Law. She has extensive experience working with communities and partners to build coalitions, preserve families, develop programs and services, and provide public health advocacy for Ohioans. Throughout her career, she served as Ward 4 Councilwoman for the city of Garfield Heights, and has held positions in the Cleveland Department of Public Health and the Cleveland Municipal Court.
In the House, Representative Davis introduced the Health Equity In All Health Related Policy Act, calling for the analysis of all health-related policies to determine whether the bill might have a positive, negative, or neutral impact on Ohio’s health. Dedicated to uplifting and creating healthier communities, the focus of her legislative agenda revolves around issues such as racial and health disparities, systemic inequality, community building, and social and criminal justice. When reelected, Representative Davis will continue to do everything in her power to advocate for Ohio’s families.
I will continue fighting for the safety, economic, and educational needs of Garfield Heights, Maple Heights, and the southeastern portion of Cleveland. I will fight for improved access to healthcare for my communities, including addressing maternal healthcare. I will fight to improve opportunities and outcomes for young people in the district. I will work with community partners to address the mental health needs of those who are begging for help.
