Born and raised in Hamilton, Ohio and having attended Hamilton City Schools, Shaquila Mathews is running for re-election for the Board of Education. Shaquila is heavily involved in the community and has a passion for giving back to the youth. Shaquila is the Founder/CEO of a non-profit called HYPE (Hamilton Young People Empowered) (Helping Young People Excel) which started six years ago. Under this non-profit are six programs including The Pastor Shaq Job/Mentoring Youth Program, Books & Barbershop, HYPE Open Gym game night, HYPE Music, and HYPE Boxing. She is not done with her work on the Board of Education and will resume being a representative for the community and children in the community. Shaquila wants to continue to create opportunities for the children of Hamilton to have what is needed to be successful and receive quality education. When re-elected, Shaquila will hire more diverse employees in the district and continue career explorations for the youth.
