Rebecca Maurer is a dedicated public servant, attorney, and community activist. She currently represents Cleveland’s Ward 12. After the recent redistricting process, she is running for a second term to represent an expanded Ward 5, which now includes her home in Slavic Village along with Central, Downtown, Midtown, and Kinsman. Rebecca’s legal career has been rooted in housing justice, from representing tenants facing eviction to leading efforts for lead-safe housing reforms. In 2021, she also became the first openly LGBTQ+ woman to serve on Cleveland City Council.
Now, Rebecca is running for a second term to continue the hard work of building a Cleveland where every neighborhood is safe, healthy, and thriving. She’s focused on holding absentee landlords accountable, improving Cleveland’s parks and recreation systems, and improving basic city services. Her approach combines hands-on problem solving with big-picture policy reforms- because she believes that Ward 5 deserves both immediate results and long-term change. With deep roots in the community and a proven record of getting things done, Rebecca is committed to fighting for the resources, respect, and results that Cleveland deserves.
