Rachel Baker is a pediatric nurse, nurse researcher, pediatric social worker, community volunteer and mother. Collectively, in these roles, she is committed to providing safe and nurturing spaces for children, and especially girls, throughout their school years. With this background, Rachel says she is “excited to bring this skill set to the Forest Hills School District Board of Education.” Rachel also notes that being the single mother of three adopted children of color brings a unique perspective to the Board and, as she observes, “affords me the skills to navigate difficult conversations…with the common goal of providing the best education to all students within our community.”

Her additional experience in strategic planning and oversight serving on the Board of Directors of a nursing professional organization, as well as serving on various high-level committees within a healthcare system, will help her navigate the organizational landscape within the school system. Rachel says she is “very involved in my community” and believes her ability to connect with groups and people of different political view and values will be the key to winning her seat on the Forest Hills Board of Education.
