Munira Abdullahi

Munira Abdullahi is a first generation Somali-American woman who grew up in the heart of Columbus with a deep understanding of the struggles and challenges facing the community she loves. She received a degree in Political Science from The Ohio State University, and for 10 years has worked in local non-profits, advocating for and promoting youth development, leadership, and community service. Munira is an IGNITE national fellow, dedicated to increasing civic engagement and legislative presence among young women. As a person with type-1 diabetes, Munira is passionate about making sure healthcare and medications are affordable and accessible.
When elected, she will also focus on updating our public transportation system, providing more accessible and affordable housing for all Ohioans, protecting homeowners, supporting small business owners, as well as ways Ohio can contribute to a more sustainable future and improve education. Munira wants to focus on making sure our teachers and students have all of the resources necessary to thrive, regardless of their unique needs, as well as functional facilities in which to teach and learn. If victorious, Munira would be the first Somali-American woman elected to the Ohio House. As a community organizer, she understands the importance of diversity, quality representation, and compassion in leadership, and will fight for Matriots values in the Ohio Legislature.
