Michelle Newman is running for Newark City Council to provide strong, responsive leadership for Ward 7 during a time of important change. Michelle brings years of experience building partnerships and driving community impact. As director of the Canal Market District (2018–2022), she expanded the farmers market, supported small businesses, and contributed to downtown revitalization. She also ran a local marketing and web design business for nearly a decade, working with small businesses, nonprofits, and municipalities across Licking County. In 2022, Michelle joined a local bank, leading marketing efforts to help rural communities access financial tools that strengthen families and neighborhoods.
A single mom to a middle schooler, she is deeply involved in the community and values the everyday connections that make Newark strong. An avid cyclist, runner, and Ironman finisher, she believes safe, accessible sidewalks and trails are key to a healthier, more connected city.
She’s ready to bring her experience, energy, dedication, and Matiots values to Ward 7.
