Seeking re-election to Gahanna City Council, Councilmember Merisa Bowers learned immensely from her first term in office. Councilmember Bowers has a deeper understanding of the role of city council members and how they can best interact with directors and city administrators. In her next term, she wants to continue advancing affordable housing and has already passed the comprehensive housing non-discrimination, including pay-to-stay legislation, in her first term. She will continue to work on transparency and communication between public leaders and residents when re-elected.   

Currently an Attorney/Loss Prevention Counsel at Ohio Bar Liability Insurance Co., Councilmember Bowers’s legal practice is centered on protecting and defending constitutional rights and advocating for families in domestic matters. She has also been an active student of other communities’ work. She has engaged with the National League of Cities, Ohio Municipal League, Ohio Women in Government, the Columbus Metropolitan Club, the Affordable Housing Alliance of Central Ohio, and MORPC during her first term. We know she will continue to advocate for equality and be a voice for the Gahanna residents when re-elected.
