Meeka Owens
Cincinnati City Council
Southwest Ohio, Local
For Meeka Owens, becoming a Cincinnati City Councilperson is more than just a job—it’s an opportunity to represent her communities. Meeka’s experiences as a Black woman and single mother have inspired her to become a public servant and create opportunities for the entire city to be represented equally. In her professional career, she’s worked intimately with the people she hopes to serve. Recently, she co-founded the Greater Cincinnati Voter Collaborative to connect Cincinnatians with resources they needed to increase voter turnout, particularly amongst communities less likely to vote. If elected, Meeka hopes to bring this same passion for energizing her community around democracy to city hall and introduce initiatives such as community police reform, further investments in early childhood education, and restructuring affordable housing options.
