Meeka Owens

Councilmember Meeka D. Owens was elected to Cincinnati City Council in 2021 and serves as Chair of the Climate, Environment, and Infrastructure Committee, as well as a member of the Budget and Finance Committee and Vice Chair of the Equitable Growth and Housing Committee. She is a lifelong Cincinnatian, born and raised in Avondale, and attended Cincinnati Public Schools, where she developed a strong foundation in community and service.
A former Miss Black Teen Cincinnati, she went on to earn her B.S. in Mass Communications from Miami University while raising her son as a single mother, later completing her M.Ed. in Human Resources Development at Xavier University. Her career has included work as a trainer, consultant, small business owner, and public servant focused on civic engagement and sustainability.
Councilmember Owens has served on numerous nonprofit boards and brings deep experience in community advocacy. Her work in office focuses on public safety, affordable housing, sustainability, and strengthening Cincinnati’s neighborhoods and cultural vitality.
