Maryellen O’Shaughnessy

Maryellen O’Shaughnessy is currently serving her third four-year term as Franklin County Clerk of Common Pleas and 10th District Court of Appeals courts and is looking to be re-elected. As Clerk, Maryellen oversees 200 Deputy Clerks who serve in nine different locations throughout Franklin County. The office has five divisions including Administration, Fiscal Services, Information Technology, the Legal Division, and the Auto Title Division which includes four locations throughout Franklin County.
Prior to serving as Franklin County Clerk, Maryellen graduated from Bishop Waterson High School and The Ohio State University. Maryellen served for 11 years on Columbus City Council before her election to the post and is currently a fourth generation Funeral Director and owner/operator of O’Shaughnessy Company Funeral Directors, a business established by her great grandfather in 1889.

Maryellen is a past board member of the Scandinavian Club of Columbus, the Ohio Recycle Federation, the Columbus Historical Society, and former chair of MORPC’s Water Quality Working Group. Maryellen is also active in her parish and served on the parish council and the Diocesan Pastoral Council, receiving an award for her efforts. Maryellen is a member of the Ohio Funeral Directors Association serving on their legislative affairs committee and of the Shamrock Club of Columbus. The Matriots look forward to seeing what Maryellen will do in the future.
