Mary Wineberg is a product of and now a teacher for the Cincinnati Public Schools (CPS) as well as a mother of CPS students, and now she’s running for the Cincinnati Board of Education. Mary was the first UC African-American female athlete to win an Olympic Gold Medal in 2008 in track & field. Involved in Girls on the Run, a program for 8-13- year old girls to promote girl empowerment by teaching life skills; and other service organizations. Mary wants to be part of the change for better education, to ensure that students and families are heard, for all students to be seen as vital participants in their education, and to make sure that students are given opportunities to advance in today’s society.
