As a first-generation Cuban-American born and raised in Columbus, Lourdes Barroso de Padilla is running to represent a population in Columbus that has never had a seat at the table. Lourdes has extensive experience in youth development and education, having worked over twenty years at City Year, an international organization focused on educational equity. Additionally, Lourdes is a graduate of Project Diversity, Leadership Columbus, and the Academy for Leadership and Governance Executive Fellowship program. She has also served as a Commissioner with the Ohio Latino Affairs Commission, as a founding member of the Create Columbus Commission, and as a board member for Directions for Youth and Families, among other roles. If elected, Lourdes will be the first Latina to serve on Columbus City Council and will work to provide access and opportunity to all residents.
