Currently working as an IT consultant, Lora Covrett has a BS in computer science from DeVry University. She has spent over 20 years working in technology, and has built her career on implementing smarter, more efficient data-driven processes. Covrett has years of experience navigating emerging technology, infrastructure, and digital security; now, she’s ready to use those same skills to bring that efficiency to the statehouse. Having spent much of her career as one of the few women in the male dominated field of IT, Covrett understands the importance of uplifting women’s voices and striving for gender parity. While she is a first-time candidate, Covrett is not new to politics. She has experience serving on her church council and has volunteered on a variety of political campaigns. Currently, Covrett is serving as secretary of her county’s Democratic party while also volunteering with Shatterproof, an organization that brings awareness to substance use disorder. 

Lora Covrett is eager to use her leadership experience to bring a fresh perspective as a state legislator. She’s ready to make a real difference in Ohioans’ lives by passing laws that put people over corporations. She wants to do what’s right for people, including advocating for affordable housing, accessible healthcare, and protections from government overreach. While in office, her three biggest priorities will be: A woman’s right to choose; Ssparation of church and state; and LGBTQ+ rights. As a member of the LGBTQ+ community herself, Covrett is committed to protecting marriage equality and keeping Ohio free from discrimination. As a wife, breadwinner, and caretaker for her aging parents, Covrett understands the pressure of being a high achieving, family-oriented woman. Covrett believes that both her professional and personal experiences will allow her to understand women’s struggles and fairly represent them in government.
