Laalitya Acharya
Ohio House of Representatives, District 56
Southwest Ohio, State Legislature
Laalitya Acharya is running for Ohio House District 56 to fight for public education, affordability, and a fair shot at success for every Ohioan. Raised in the district she now hopes to represent, Laalitya graduated at the top of her class from Mason High School before earning both her Bachelor’s and master’s degrees in biomedical engineering from Columbia University.
Throughout high school and college, Laalitya volunteered with local STEM education centers, organized to expand access to education, and advocated for student workers’ rights. Her commitment to public service earned her the Gold Congressional Youth Award for advocacy work.
After graduate school, Laalitya returned home to continue serving her community. In 2023, she organized against efforts by Ohio lawmakers to make citizen-led ballot initiatives harder to pass, working to protect voting rights and ensure every Ohioan’s voice is heard. She also founded a youth-focused political organization that was recognized as “Best Small Chapter of the Year” in 2024.
Laalitya is running a grassroots campaign without corporate or dark money because she believes elected officials should be accountable only to the people they serve. The Matriots are proud to endorse Laalitya Acharya for Ohio House District 56 because of her commitment to public service, grassroots leadership, and building a stronger future for Ohio families.
