Katie Cappellini is running for Mayor of Sylvania because she is prepared to help Sylvania reach its fullest potential. As a member of City Council for the past 14 years, Katie has witnessed first-hand what kind of progress can and must be made for the city of Sylvania. Katie knows that while women are becoming the most important economic force in our country and are increasing in influence in politics and business, they are still underrepresented on most leadership boards. 

As mayor, Katie plans on appointing women to local boards and commissions in Sylvania. Katie also has big plans to complete an active transportation plan for the whole city so that there are safe and accessible walkways and bikeways that connect downtown with the neighborhoods, parks, and other assets. Katie prioritizes the safety of public spaces for all groups including pedestrians, bicyclists, children, families, and people with disabilities. Sylvania is ready for a mayor directly connected to the community and one who honors the history of Sylvania while embracing creative planning – a Mayor like Katie Cappellini.
