Kathy Dunn

Kathy Dunn has served as Ross County recorder since 1997, holding the position for seven consecutive terms through 2025. She previously worked as General Manager of Tri-County Vending/Wholesale Electronics, Chillicothe City Treasurer, and a licensed real estate agent. Dunn holds a degree in Electro-Mechanical Engineering- the first woman in Southern Ohio to graduate with this untraditional degree and later earned a Real Estate License from Hondros College.
She has secured nearly $1 million in grant funding to digitize and modernize county records and has been a leader in the Ohio Recorders Association, chairing statewide conferences and working closely with state legislators. Dunn has testified before the Ohio legislature 15 times, successfully helping pass state laws to protect veterans, improve public records standards, and remove social security numbers from public documents.
Her community involvement spans numerous civic and professional organizations, and she has received over a dozen awards for leadership and public service. She currently lives in Chillicothe with her husband of almost 49 years. Together, they have one son.
