Jocelyn Rhynard
Dayton Board of Education
Southwest Ohio, Local
Jocelyn Spencer Rhynard is currently serving her second term on the Dayton Public Schools Board of Education. A parent of four DPS students, she was an active, engaged parent who attended board meetings and decided to run in 2017. She is deeply passionate about urban public education and works to defend and advocate for public education in the Ohio Statehouse. She is also the Federal Legislative Advocacy Group delegate for the 10th Congressional District for grassroots advocacy in Washington, D.C.
Joycelyn serves on the Ohio School Boards Association Southwest Regional Executive Committee, the Ohio School Boards Association Board of Trustees Cabinet, and is involved in the Ohio School Boards Association Urban School Boards Network.
Jocelyn has served as the Vice President for two years, and has sat on the Policy Committee, the Parent Family Community Engagement Committee, the Evaluation Committee, and the Finance Committee. She focuses primarily on providing a high-quality education to each student and has also advocated for increased sexual harassment protections for board members.
A Minnesota native and Ohio transplant, with a brief stint in Utah for her undergraduate degree, she now considers Dayton home and finds that her best thinking is done while walking her rescue dog Kepler. The Matriots stand with Jocelyn as she boldly pursues elected office, fights for Matriots’ values, and works to shape a better future for her community.
