Jan-Michele Lemon Kearney is Cincinnati’s Vice Mayor, serving since 2020 and elected as top vote-getter in both the 2021 and 2023 City Council elections. A proud graduate of Cincinnati Public Schools, she holds degrees from Dartmouth College, Harvard Graduate School of Education, and Harvard Law School.
A former attorney and co-founder of Sesh Communications, publisher of The Cincinnati Herald, Jan-Michele champions equity, community engagement, and economic opportunity. She led efforts to relocate the city’s gun range, expand affordable housing, and increase access to capital for minority- and women-owned businesses. Her initiatives include the “Boots on the Ground Fund” for grassroots organizations and the Office of Opportunity to address the racial wealth gap. She also helped launch the Building Futures program for job training.
Deeply active in the community, she volunteers with numerous organizations and is married to former Ohio Senate Minority Leader Eric Kearney. They have two children, Celeste and Asher. The Matriots are proud to support Vice Mayor Kearney as she continues to be a powerful proponent for Matriots’ values and advocate for the citizens of Cincinnati.
