A dedicated and courageous leader, Prosecutor Gina DeGenova is seeking election as the Mahoning County Prosecutor. She was sworn in as the first woman to serve as Mahoning County Prosecutor in 2023. Prosecutor DeGenova, a lifelong resident of the Mahoning Valley, is determined to fight for her community. Prosecutor DeGenova is no stranger to the prosecutor’s office, having honorably served a sixteen-year tenure as an assistant prosecutor. She has proven her leadership skills in various roles, including lead advisor and counsel to Sheriff Jerry Green, the Board of County Commissioners, the Board of Elections, and numerous township police departments and law enforcement agencies throughout the county. Also, she served as the Chief Assistant Prosecutor and Public Information Officer in 2021, where she managed the criminal and civil divisions, oversaw the office’s general operations, and created a comprehensive communication plan. 

The Matriots recognize Prosecutor Gina DeGenova as a fierce advocate for healthy, safe, and prosperous communities. Since being sworn into office, she has instituted numerous public safety initiatives, most notably a Special Victims Unit that prosecutes crimes against the most vulnerable members of the community, including victims of sexual assault, children, the elderly, and abused animals. Additionally, she has helped develop programs such as the Mahoning County Special Needs Registry and the first county-wide Self Defense class.The Matriots are proud to endorse Prosecutor DeGenova for Mahoning County Prosecutor and look forward to all she will accomplish.
