Appointed to the Akron Board of Education in 2020, Diana Autry has voted with women-led households in a time of crisis by supporting the avoidance of layoffs and assuring resources such as meals and wifi access for remote learning for children. Diana helped create a new advocacy page on the district website so that everyone can be informed, engaged, and empowered on legislative issues in Ohio. 

Diana has been a long-time advocate for the students in Akron City Schools. When appointed, Diana said “It was not that big a jump from being a pediatric nurse – it’s a natural fit. Akron Children’s Hospital has an awesome culture in treating every child as if they were our own, and I want to bring that to [Akron Public Schools].  I also want to take a holistic approach and include whole families.”

Diana is a mother, pediatric nurse, PTA leader, and the right choice to continue leading on the Akron Board of Education.
