Deborah Lieberman

Commissioner Deborah Lieberman has a long-standing commitment to public service, focusing on economic development, poverty elimination, and improving early childhood education. After graduating from the University of Dayton School of Law, her career began in real estate and with the Legal Aid Society of Dayton. She later joined the Montgomery County Auditor’s Office, serving as Director of Real Estate for a decade before becoming Chief Deputy Auditor in 2001.
Now in her fifth term as Montgomery County Commissioner, since 2004, she has championed workforce development, infant mortality reduction, and reentry programs. Her dedication to these causes has earned her numerous accolades, including YWCA “Woman of Influence” and Dayton Business Journal’s “Regional Leader of the Year.”
Nationally, Commissioner Lieberman serves on the Board of Directors for the National Association of Counties (NACo) and holds leadership positions on several committees, including the Human Services and Education Steering Committee. Her work extends to the NACo Broadband Task Force, Economic Mobility Leadership Network, and Arts & Culture Commission, reflecting her broad commitment to equity and community well-being.
