Deborah A. Gray currently serves on Cleveland’s City Council. A lifelong advocate, she has spent decades empowering residents through grassroots leadership. As a Buckeye Ambassador, block club president, and co-founder of initiatives like Cleveland VOTES and Healthy Eating, Active Living (HEAL).
On City Council, Councilmember Gray has championed neighborhood investment, including park improvements, affordable housing, small business support, and the revitalization of Buckeye Road and Shaker Square. Her public service is grounded in years of experience across the corporate, nonprofit, and public sectors, including as a UAW union rep and with the Cleveland Public Library.
A graduate of East Tech High School, she holds a business degree and has completed the Cleveland Leadership Institute. A proud mother of two and longtime Buckeye resident, Councilwoman Gray leads with a deep commitment to equity, civic engagement, and opportunity for all, values that reflect The Matriots’ mission.
