Deborah Callihan
Bay Village Board of Education
Northeast Ohio, Local
As a retired mathematics teacher for 33 years at Lakewood City Schools, Deborah Callihan knows first-hand what the Bay Village Board of Education needs. Deborah is involved in several organizations from local PTA’s, St. Jude’s Hospital, PBS, and The Brian Muha Memorial Foundation. She is no stranger to giving back to her community and ensuring that the students of Bay Village have a strong education. Deborah knows that the community is strong, and she wants it to stay that way with constant communication between all parties in the community, the board, and the schools. When elected, she will be the member that will listen, get answers if she can’t answer the question on her own, and keep Bay Village in the top 10% of Ohio schools. She believes all students should feel safe and know that school is a place to learn, grow, and give back.
The way to access education is through hard work and knowledge. This leads to choices. I tell my students to keep doors open so there are choices when it comes to your life. Nothing is off limits and there is always a way to achieve your goals. It’s not necessarily easy, but can be done.
