Toledo Board of Education
Northwest Ohio, Local
With 8 years of experience serving on the Board of Education for Toledo, Christine Varwig is known by her community as someone who takes action and gets things done. In her time on the Board of Education, Christine has worked through several labor negotiations, achieved parent engagement and student voice initiatives, supported efforts to advance health centers in high schools, added crucial board committees, and pushed for the Equity, Diversity & Inclusion Department. Christine knows that having a female lens on the Board of Education is not only important, but makes a difference in the policies being passed as women are the predominant work force in public education. As both a mother and grandmother to children who have learned through the public education system, Christine has seen first-hand the ways public education can be a lifeline for children. If re-elected to the Board of Education, Christine will continue to bring purpose and passion to create progress in public education for the Toledo Public Schools community.
