Cerssandra McPherson was born and raised in Toledo and is a product of Toledo City Schools. Cerssandra was appointed to the Toledo City Council as an At-Large member in 2020 and was elected to retain her seat in 2021.
Before serving on the Toledo City Council, she worked as a special education paraprofessional for 32 years in Toledo Public Schools. As a paraprofessional, she spent her career ensuring that children get their needs met in schools and learn skills that will help them thrive.
In addition to her work in the classroom, Cerssandra is a member of the Coalition of Black Trade Unionists and Toledo Federation of Teachers. She is a leader in the local faith community and serves as a guest minister at the Braden United Methodist Church.
On City Council, she is the Chair of Intergovernmental & Administrative Services and Vice Chair of Parks, Recreation, Education & Health. These roles position her to deliver on issues that matter most to Toledo Families, like safe neighborhoods and opportunities for kids. In just five years on the council, Cerssandra has delivered concrete results. From helping open the Wayman Palmer YMCA to securing millions in infrastructure funding to repair our roads and replace toxic lead pipes. Cerssandra is a proven leader and will be a fierce champion for Matriots’ values as she continues to serve on Council.
