Alicia Reece
Hamilton County Commissioner
Southwest Ohio, Countywide
Alicia Reece is a trailblazing Hamilton County Commissioner, making history as the first woman and African American to win city, state, and county races in Hamilton County. With over 20 years of public service, she has held numerous roles, including being the youngest woman ever elected to Cincinnati City Council.
A strong advocate for civil rights and voting rights, Commissioner Reece led the historic Voter Bill of Rights Constitutional Amendment in Ohio, a grassroots effort aimed at protecting voting rights. Her leadership extended to her role as Vice Chair of the Democratic National Committee (DNC) Convention and her involvement in drafting sections of the DNC Platform on voting rights and criminal justice reform.
Commissioner Reece’s commitment to economic and social justice is evident through her work on the Ohio Legislative Black Caucus, where she launched the State of Black Ohio Action Agenda. This initiative led to the largest minority business spending in Ohio’s history, increased funding for Central State University, and supported job training partnerships across the state. She also played a pivotal role in the creation of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. state highway interchange, a significant infrastructure project connecting Cincinnati’s hospitals, technology, and job sectors.
In addition to her public service, Commissioner Reece is an entrepreneur and a nationally recognized speaker. She hosts the popular “Alicia Reece Soulfood” radio show and podcast, where she continues to engage with and inspire her community.
Her dedication to public service and equity continues to make a lasting impact on Hamilton County and beyond, and The Matriots are proud to support her.
