Christine Cockley, a lifelong public servant, is running for re-election for Ohio House of Representatives, District 6 because she understands the importance of showing up for her community and advocating for their needs. Cockley first began her work in public service through a career in the nonprofit sector. Most recently she was the Executive Assistant to the President and CEO of YWCA Columbus, a nonprofit dedicated to eliminating racism and empowering women through social justice, education, and housing, a Board Member for Highland Youth Garden, and Director of Development for Moderation Management. She also previously worked for U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown’s government offices, where she learned the importance of listening to her community members’ needs and worries.
In her current role as Representative, Cockley prioritizes health care access, lowering the cost of housing, and funding reliable infrastructure, demonstrating her dedication to the people of her constituency. Representative Cockley currently serves on the following committees: Ohio House Agriculture, Energy, Insurance, and Technology and Innovation. She is also part of the Jewish Caucus and serves as the Ohio Democratic Women’s Legislative Caucus’ Service Committee Chair. Outside of her role as Representative, she is a member of National Conference of State Legislatures, a state director for Women In Government, and Council of State Governments.
Through all her roles she demonstrates a dedication to empowering women and protecting their rights, creating safe environments for Ohioans, and helping provide support to marginalized communities. She strives to turn her community’s concerns into actions, and produce tangible results.
