Chelsea Alkire

Chelsea Alkire is an English as a Second Language (ESL) teacher in Groveport, Ohio, with over a decade of experience supporting multilingual learners. She began her career as a bilingual assistant after earning a B.A. in Spanish from Bowling Green State University, which sparked her passion for ESL education. She went on to earn a Master’s in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages from Ohio Dominican University.
Throughout her career, Chelsea has supported language development across academic subjects, including science, math, and career readiness. She recently transitioned from South-Western City Schools to Groveport Madison High School to continue advocating for stronger support systems for English learners. There, she has led initiatives including improved graduation screeners, a summer tutoring program, and expanded Sheltered Instruction classes. Her team also earned a Learning is Wild grant from the Columbus Zoo.
Chelsea was selected to present at the 2024 Ohio TESOL conference and is now running for the South-Western City Schools Board of Education to continue championing equitable education for all students.
