The Honorable Cheryl Brooks Sullivan, Franklin County Treasurer since 2016, is the first African American to hold this position and the first African American woman to serve in any Franklin County office. Her tenure is marked by significant efforts to modernize the office and support vulnerable populations. She introduced email billing for property taxes, cutting costs and enhancing efficiency, and established a Director of Retention Services to help homeowners avoid foreclosure.
With a background in military service, real estate, and labor unions, Treasurer Brooks Sullivan has leveraged her diverse experience to drive impactful change. She actively engages in community service, serving on the boards of the Greater Columbus Arts Council and Ohio Legal Help, and is affiliated with organizations such as the National Coalition of 100 Black Women and the NAACP, underscoring her commitment to women’s empowerment, equity, and safe communities.
